Biography
Luis Sottil was born in 1959
in Mexico City. He was raised in Tampico, an exuberant
port in the gulf of Mexico with an abundance of natural
resources.
Sottil concentrated in representing
the emotions of his ultimate passion: nature. In order
to do that he created the Naturalismo Technique.
Sottil admits that "by painting
with unconditional feelings, exploring textures and
natural sources of color I have learned the different
meanings of my own emotions"
Today Sottil is represented by
21 galleries in the United States and has been the recipient
of numerous achievement awards.

Naturalismo Technique
Luis Sottil's philosophy behind "Naturalismo"
is the belief that mother nature is the gift to humankind
where all five senses have the opportunity to interact simultaneously
in perfect harmony.
The two most common emotions that result
from our exposure to mother nature are intensity and serenity.
This combination of values happen simultaneously only in nature,
this is what Sottil calls "nature's chemistry".
INTENSITY The
first challenge in his task to bring intensity to an art form,was
to come up with a technique that would achieve colors that
would change with the intensity of light as they do in nature.
SERENITY In
order to achieve serenity Sottil goes around the world looking
for his subject matter in its natural habitat. This is how
his compositions are born.
